3500 books and periodicals presented in International Book Exhibition

Approximately 3500 books and periodicals have been presented at the 15th edition of the International Book Exhibition that took place in the National Library of Moldova.

According to Alexe Rau, general director of the Library, the books presented are the result of the activity of over 200 publishing houses from 23 countries. During the Exhibition some 90 books were launched and 27 cultural activities took place – art and culture saloons, philosophical coffee breaks etc.

Rau also mentioned that a competition of the most read books by Moldovan authors was done, as was traditionally done since 1992. In the top ten there are books like “Never by name”, by Silvia Caloian, “3 months in Paris”, by Rodica Chiriac, “Contemplation”, de Claudia Partole and other. A top of the best selling publishing houses within the Exhibition was also done: these are „Pontos” and „Polirom”.

For the organization of this year’s International Book Exhibition MDL 73 thousand were spent.

The 15th edition of the International Book Exhibition was included in the celebration events of the 17th anniversary from the declaration of Romanian as state language of the Republic of Moldova.
